Wouldn't it be interesting to live in Japan?

Yes.

One of my best friends lived there, and while it was interesting, I think she strongly felt that it was meant to be a short term thing... :)

whoah very late to the game here, but i love that temple! it's in Kyoto. i have a picture almost identical to that on my digital camera. :)

(i'm sure i'm not teaching you anything new, here. i just really felt the need to share.)

and yes, it would be interesting to live there, but i have friends who both loved & hated it. i guess it just depends on how it goes once you get there....

well...i have one friend who went there during college for a year, and then went back afterwards (in 2001) with the JET program, and has been there ever since, teaching English & living with his Japanese girlfriend.

on the other hand, i had a friend who was dying to go teach English over there, but she got a job in a very, very small city, and she didn't even stay the whole year she had originally signed on for. part of it was that she was with a very disorganized & (she thought) unprofessional school, but also she had problems with feeling like those Japanese who didn't know her were overly polite (sugary sweet even when they were hiding mean agendas) and didn't expect that she was competent enough in Japanese to converse with them, etc. (she felt there were other problems, too, but those are a start.)

and then there are the few friends who have gone there for a year or so -- some loved it & can't wait to go back, while others had a good time but never would.

...i suppose i could have a whole several-hours-long conversation with you about this -- perhaps i'll FINALLY show up at one of those SnB's and we can discuss!! :)
