Just say no

It's decided: I'm not knitting X-mas presents this year. Not only do I not need the pressure and stress, but it just doesn't make sense. I'm not Christian, and my family barely is. I'm really too tired to hold up my end of our secular holiday. They're getting New Year's cards.

Which makes me Ebenezer Scrooge. But I don't care. More yarn for me! (Esp. when you consider I have nine siblings (eight living) I am no longer knitting for.)

I can feel the weight lifting already.

How are you?

Personally I think the whole present aspect of Christmas has gotten way out of hand.

Nine? Nine? Wow, that is a LOT of knitting, even if you're only making them something like washcloths or socks. Nine?

presents are *not* supposed to be an obligation, if they are, are they really celebrating anything? Just having one sibling, and his significant other, it is easy to be annually inspired...but with your numerous family, that would be quite a bit of annual inspiration!

I am so over that, too. We had gotten to the point where we were having to draw names from a hat and even that seemed like a burden that was just unnecessary. Not one of us is under the age of 30 anymore! SO NO.

Good for you. Even just watching that whole rush to knit for the holidays gives me the yips.
